CONGRATULATIONS 2026-2027 BYSO MEMBERS!

REMINDERS:

You may pick-up your music folder this Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at CSUB between 4:00-5:30 PM. There will be a table set-up close to the Music Building Parking lot. No need to purchase a parking pass. Just stop by and pick up your music. You may also pay your tuition at the time. $250 – Cash or Check made out to BYSO.
Look over your music before the first rehearsal.
Rehearsal #1 will be on Sunday, September 20 in the CSUB Band Room from 5:30-8:00 PM. Arrive early to find your seat and be ready to begin at 5:30 PM.
There will also be a short PARENT MEETING on Sunday, September 20 at 5:30 PM at CSUB in the Choir Room.
$250 Tuition is due on Sunday, 9/20. Cash or check made out to BYSO (or you may pay when you pick up your music this Tuesday).

Audition Results

Fulfill the following requirements:

For consideration as a member of the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra, you must fulfill the following:

Completion of the application Google form accompanied by $25 non-refundable application fee no later than September 4, 2026.
Performance of audition music including:
1. The assigned scale(s) AND excerpts for your instrument provided.
2. There will be instrument specific sight-reading excerpts.
Membership in the BYSO is open to students in the 7th grade through 19 years of age at the time of auditions, unless exceptions have been approved by the BYSO Board. Students must be enrolled in their school instrumental ensemble where available.
You must be enrolled and in good standing in your school instrumental music group where available.
Attendance at all rehearsals and concerts is mandatory if you become a member of the BYSO.
Rehearsals will be on Sundays at CSUB from 5:30-8:00 PM, unless there is a 3-day weekend.
Review the 2026-2027 Calendar to make sure you are available to attend all rehearsals and concerts.

Complete the following Google form and pay the application fee via the PayPal link following submission of the form.

*Payment of the $25 application fee will apply to the tuition fee of $275, payable upon admission to the Bakersfield Youth Symphony. If you are not accepted, your $25 will NOT be refunded, and if you do not appear, the fee will be forfeited. Applications received later than September 4th will require a $10 late fee. Complete payment of tuition, in the form of cash or check, must be received by the first rehearsal. Financial aid to cover tuition is available based on need. Applications for financial aid are available.

Please refrain from using KHSD or PBVUSD emails for accessing the Google Drive as we have had problems with access in the past.
